What to Expect
You can expect a friendly, safe, non-judgmental environment where you can discuss your needs with an experienced professional to accomplish your goals.
I understand that when that initial phone call is made, some may experience apprehension and/or uncertainty about the process and what happens next.

First, when you make an inquiry via phone, email or text, I will get back to you within 48 hours. You then have the option to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss questions, concerns, or to assess if I am the right therapist for you, or you can go ahead and schedule an appointment with me.

Next, if you decide to schedule an appointment, I will have you make an account through the platform in which I make appointments, take payments, access the telehealth platform, etc. There I will have some forms for you to complete prior to your appointment. These forms will include basic demographic information, payment information, as well as an informed consent for you to read and sign.

Then, at your first appointment, I will first review the informed consent with you and answer any questions you may have about it. Then I will begin an intake assessment with you asking about the reasons you are seeking counseling, the symptoms you are experiencing, relevant history, etc. At the end of your first appointment, I will ask if you want to go ahead and make your next appointment with me, make it later via phone, email or text, or think about if you want to schedule another appointment with me. I can always provide referrals if you do not think it is a good fit.

At your second appointment, we will continue to work through the intake assessment, complete any other assessments needed to get a baseline for symptoms and severity, and begin to talk about your goals for counseling and how we might achieve those goals. This may continue through to your third appointment if needed. By your fourth appointment, it is my goal to present your treatment plan and review it with you for your approval. The treatment plan can change at any time based on your needs.

Finally, by your fourth appointment after reviewing your treatment plan, we will begin working towards your goals and facing your giants! See my Services page to get a glimpse into modalities I may use to help you.

Please note that this structure is flexible and can look different for some people due to the individualistic approach I take for treatment planning. Also, this structure will be slightly different for those seeking couple's counseling or pre-marital counseling. Those seeking these services may have some appointments as a couple and some individually as part of the intake process.
